Call for Papers Now - March 7

 The 4th Annual QM Conference on Quality Assurance in Online Learning has begun accepting paper submissions.  Papers will be accepted through March 7, 2012.

The conference will be held October 3-6, 2012 at Loews Ventana Canyon, Tucson, AZ. October 3 is a pre-conference workshop day and the conference runs October 4-6.

Tracks

1. Research: Reports from the Field 

 QM sponsored and independent research on the impact of the QM standards and review process on:

  • online design practices
  • student learning
  • approaches to professional development for faculty and staff

The track emphasizes action research.  What is working?  What isn't?  How can we improve?

2. Implementing Quality Criteria for Design and Content

Methods for selecting and integrating third-party content into courses, criteria for determining the quality of content - from learning object to complete modules and courses, and strategies for effective collaboration between faculty subject matter experts and instructional designers.

3. Best Practices in Implementing QM

High-impact strategies for incentivizing faculty; designing courses that meet QM standards; and spreading QM principles and practices in non-profit and for-profit higher education, adult and continuing education, and workforce training.

4. QM, Quality Assurance Practices, and Accreditation

How QM implementation can contribute to a quality assurance process, other components in online course and program quality assurance, and the impact of QM implementation on regional and professional accrediting associations' evaluations of distance learning programs.

5. Accessibility Today and Tomorrow

Successful programs and strategies to make distance learning more accessible, discussion or demonstration of tools and methods that assist in developing accesssible content, and rising standards for accessibility and how to meet them.

6. Raising the Bar in K-12 Online Learning

Early efforts to implement QM standards in K-12 institutions, how QM responds to the needs of K-12 teachers, QM and K-12 facutly development models, integrating QM into K-12 teacher preparation programs, and aligning QM with national standards - iNACOL, 21st Century Skills, Common Core, etc.

 

Submission Guidelines:

  • Conference will be held October 3-6, 2012 in Tucson, AZ at Loews Ventana Canyon (October 3 will be pre-conference workshops and October 4-6 will have concurrent presentation sessions)
  • Presenters will be able to register at the early bird rate
  • Presentations must directly relate to the track chosen
  • Format options: Individual Presentation, Group Presentation (presentation by a group that has been working together on a project or initiative), Panel (individuals who represent different perspectives on the issue at hand), or Poster
  • Presentation proposals will be accepted from early February through March 7.  Notification of Program Committee decisions will be made mid April.
