We recommend you register for workshops during the registration process as these sessions fill quickly.
About pre-conference workshops and 2-hour workshops:
- Pre-conference workshops provide opportunities to take one or more Quality Matters face-to-face trainings at a considerable savings compared to standard QM training fees.
- The emphasis of the pre-conference day is to showcase new and recent QM workshops, but basic QM training is also available.
- Workshops are taken in conjunction with attendance at the Quality Matters Conference November 7-9. Participants will receive certificates of completion for all workshops.

Monday, November 7
Pre-conference Schedule
Full-day workshop
8 am - 5 pm – APPQMR (Applying the Quality Matters Rubric)
This is QM’s Flagship workshop, training on the QM Rubric and its use in evaluating online courses. This workshop is intended for a broad audience, including but not limited to faculty, instructional designers, administrators, and adjunct instructors who wish to understand more about the QM process and, perhaps, aspire to become peer reviewers. Full Day - $175
Half-day workshops
Morning
8 am – 12: 00 - Noon - Designing for Accessibility
This workshop is appropriate for those faculty and instructional designers who wish to better understand accessibility issues and to be introduced to tools they can use to improve the accessibility of their online and blended courses. Half Day - $100
8 am – 12:00 Noon - Build Your Blended Course
This workshop trains participants to apply a course design strategy based on the QM Rubric to develop a blended course. The workshop culminates in the creation of a Course Design Plan. Half Day - $100
Afternoon
1:00 pm – 5:00 pm - Using Media Effectively
This workshop introduces participants to a variety of media-based tools that can be used in online and blended courses. It is intended for a broad audience, including but not limited to faculty, instructional designers, administrators, and adjunct instructors. Half Day - $100
1:00 pm - 3:00 pm - 2011-2013 Rubric Update
This workshop will introduce participants to the changes in the new 2011-2013 rubric and the rationale behind them. Although an overview of all changes will be provided, focus will be on the most significant changes and attendees will participate in a guided discussion about application of the standards and annotations in these areas. Participants will be awarded credit for completing the update training upon successful completion of an end-of-workshop evaluation. Each participant will receive a copy of the 2011-2013 Rubric Workbook. 2 Hour Workshop - Includes Lunch $25
3:00-4:30 - Newcomers Session
This session will introduce Quality Matters to those new to the community. The session will include an overview of the QM Program, QM services introductions by QM staff, and highlights of the tools and resources available to subscribers. No Charge
Wednesday, November 9
Post-conference Schedule
1:00 pm – 3:00 pm - Professional Development for Master Reviewers
This is a practical, hands-on work session for current QM Master Reviewers (MR). MRs will be given an update on relevant policies, processes, and procedures by QM Course Review staff. Participants will also engage in a facilitated discussion around common problems and solutions in course reviews. An opportunity will be provided for MRs to provide feedback to QM about areas of concern and opportunities to explore related to the Master Reviewer role. Feedback will be solicited about the pros and cons of individual, in addition to institutional, subscriptions to QM. Lunch will be provided. 2-hour Session - $30
1:00 pm – 3:00 pm - Professional Development for Independent Trainers
This is a practical, hands-on work session for current QM Independent Trainers (IT). ITs will be given an update on relevant policies, processes, and procedures by QM Professional Development staff. Participants will also engage in a facilitated discussion around common problems and solutions in delivering the APPQMR training. An opportunity will be provided for ITs to provide feedback to QM about areas of concern and opportunities to explore related to the Independent Trainer role. Feedback will be solicited about the pros and cons of individual, in addition to institutional, subscriptions to QM. Lunch will be provided. 2-hour Session - $30
1:00 pm - 3:00 pm - Professional Development for Institution Representatives
This is a practical, hands-on work session for current QM Institution Representatives (IR). IRs will be given an update on relevant policies, processes, and procedures by QM Subscriber Services staff. Participants will also engage in a facilitated discussion around common problems and solutions in implementing Quality Matters on campus. An opportunity will be provided for IRs to provide feedback to QM about areas of concern and opportunities to explore related to the Institution Representative role and the resources available to subscribing institutions. Feedback will be solicited about the pros and cons of individual, in addition to institutional, subscriptions to QM. Lunch will be provided. 2 -hour Session - $30
