Exciting time for QM research

These are busy and exciting time for research at QM.  We're beginning the formal review of the research lit which will inform the QM Rubric Committee.  This latest review will expand what's been done in 2005 (for the original FIPSE project) and updated in 2008.  As in 2008, we will be looking for new information that might impact the studies reported in the two previous lit reviews and we will be looking for emerging or expanded topics related to designing online courses that will improve learning.

Our survey will focus on selected peer reviewed research-focused journals, plus the dissertations done since 2008.  A report will be presented in November to the Rubric Committee to inform their work as they carefully review the existing rubric.  Of course, their work will also be informed by data from the QM Rubric survey, now available to subscribers, and by data gathered from the "exit surveys" done by members of Review teams.

Related to surveying the research lit is an exciting Interaction Summit that will be announced shortly.  For now, I can say that five internationally know researchers have accepted our invitation to discuss the place of interaction in today's online courses.  The actual Summit will be closed - amongst themselves - but will be recorded and made available later.  There will be an opportunity for subscribers to participate in a follow-up discussion on a QM forum.  We hope to announce details of the Summit this week.
