K-12 Professional Development Workshops:

Materials needed for participants:
The G6-12 Rubric annotated workbook is used in all workshops and is available for purchase. $20 for subscribers and $50 for non-subscribers plus shipping and handling fees. Order Materials.

Workshop: (G6-12 IYOC) Improving Your Online Course

Description:

This workshop explores the Grades 6-12 (G6-12) Rubric and provides a framework to improve the quality of online courses.  Participants use the 42 standards of the Rubric to review the design of their online courses. The workshop culminates in the creation of a Course Improvement Plan.

This course is intended for teachers, instructional designers or curriculum developers in K-12 who are interested in making the design of their existing online or blended courses more effective for their students and for themselves.

Length of time:  This workshop requires eight to twelve hours to complete within three weeks online. Participants need access to an existing online course.  Participants may be awarded one (1) Continuing Education Unit on successful completion of their Course Improvement Plans.

Specific Workshop Information:

    Option A: IYOC Online, three weeks, facilitated.

G6-12 IYOC Fees:
Subscribers $175 per participant
Non-subscribers: $225

    Option B: IYOC via Elluminate Live! $2800 for up to 20 participants. For non-subscribers, the fee is $3300.

    Option C: IYOC face-to-face, four hours, plus four to eight hours of follow-up work online, up to 20 participants, $2,800 plus facilitator travel expenses, no pre-requisite requirements, participants materials provided by QM. For non-subscribers, the fee is $3300.

Workshop:  (G6-12 APPQMR) Applying the Grades 6 – 12 Quality Matters Rubric

Description:

This course is the most comprehensive approach to the G6-12 Rubric offered by QM.  This rigorous workshop covers all elements of the Grades 6-12 Rubric and its use in evaluating online courses. This course discusses the underlying rationale for each standard and provides hands on experience.

This workshop is appropriate for teachers, instructional designers, administrators and regulators who wish to understand more about research supported best practices and mandates required by state and local governments.

Length of time:   The G6-12 APPQMR workshop requires eight to twelve hours of work within three weeks. Participants may be awarded one (1) Continuing Education Unit on successful completion of the assignments and quizzes in the workshop.

    Option A:  Online, two-three week, facilitated, asynchronous.  No pre-requisite requirements.

    Option B:  Face-to-face, six hours, up to twenty-five participants, $2,800 plus facilitator travel expenses, no pre-requisite requirements, participants materials provided by QM. For non-subscribers, the fee is $3300.

Workshop: (G6-12 RCW) Grades 6-12 Reviewer Certification Workshop

Description:

The G6-12 RCW course covers the policies and procedures governing Quality Matters course reviews for Grades 6 – 12, and addresses the roles and responsibilities of a peer reviewer. Participants receive a “hands on” experience by reviewing elements of an actual G6-12 course.

This course is for those teachers and instructional designers who would like to become certified G6-12 course reviewers. Upon successful completion of the G6-12 RCW, participants will be certified as G6-12 course reviewers and posted by QM.

Prerequisites:  Participants must have successfully completed the G6-12 APPQMR.
To be eligible for certification as a G6-12 course reviewer, K-12 personnel must have taught or developed an online or blended course during the previous 18 months.  Certified higher education peer reviewers may also qualify to be dually certified, if they have prior K-12 teaching experience, have taught dual enrollment courses, or participate in teacher education programs.

Length of Time:  The workshop requires eight to twelve hours of work within three weeks. 

Specific Workshop Information:  This workshop is only offered online: two to three weeks, facilitated, asynchronous. 

G6-12 RCW fees:

Workshop: (G6-12 DYOC) Designing Your Online Course

Description:
This workshop trains participants to apply a course design strategy based on the Grades 6-12 (G6-12) Rubric to develop an online or blended course. The workshop is intended for teachers and instructional designers in K-12 who are interested in designing one or more online or blended courses that meet state and federal standards and embody the best practice and research supported standards in the Quality Matters G 6 – 12 Rubric.  The workshop culminates in the creation of a Course Development Plan.

Length of time:
This workshop requires eight to twelve hours to complete within three weeks. Participants need access to a course management system and authorization to create an online or blended course. Participants may be awarded one (1) Continuing Education Unit on successful completion of their Course Development Plans.

Specific Workshop Information:

    Option A: DYOC Online, two weeks, facilitated.

G6-12 DYOC Online Fees:
Subscriber fees $175 per person

Non-subscribers: $225

    Option B:  Face-to-face, six hours, up to twenty-five participants, $2,800 plus facilitator travel expenses, no pre-requisite requirements, participants materials provided by QM. For non-subscribers, the fee is $3300.

Workshop: (G6-12 RCW/ HE) Accelerated Grades 6-12 Reviewer Certification Workshop (RCW) for QM Certified Higher Education (HE) Reviewers

Eligiblity:
The G6-12 RCW /HE is  an accelerated course available only to already certified QM higher education peer reviewers that have prior K-12 teaching experience, have taught dual enrollment courses, or participate in teacher education programs.

Description:

The workshop covers the policies and procedures governing Quality Matters course reviews for Grades 6 – 12, and addresses the roles and responsibilities of a peer reviewer.

This course is for those who would like to become certified G6-12 course reviewer and become dually certified. Upon successful completion of the G6-12 RCW/HE, participants will be certified as G6-12 course reviewers and posted by QM. Certification is contingent upon submissions of the G6-12 Course Reviewer Application.

Prerequisites:  Participants must be a certified QM peer reviewers in Higher Education.  

Length of Time:  The workshop requires two hours of work via an Elluminate connection.

Specific Workshop Information:  This workshop is only offered via Elluminate. Online, two hours, facilitated, synchronous.

Subscribers: $75 per participant
Non-subscribers: $100 per participant
