Onsite Professional Development Opportunities

Quality Matters (QM) offers several professional development trainings as onsite workshops.  QM sends a qualified QM facilitator to your institution to facilitate these individual workshops, which are typically done in one day sessions. Participant materials are provided by QM. Onsite workshops include: 
Overview
For those new to Quality Matters, the Overview provides an overview of the underlying principles of the Quality Matters approach, a description of the QM Rubric and the process for reviewing courses, and examples of how institutions, consortia and statewide groups are implementing Quality Matters. 
Fees: Option 1: Complimentary PowerPoint with notes if less than one hour.
Option 2: Onsite overview includes a 2 hour overview session and implementation consultation for a fee of $1000 plus facilitator travel expenses. For local area, $500.

Applying the QM Rubric (APPQMR)
Applying the QM Rubric, QM’s flagship training, provides an in-depth exploration of the QM Rubric and its use in evaluating online courses.  The Onsite workshop is 6 hours, and can accommodate up to 30 participants.   There are no pre-requisite requirements and participant materials are provided by QM.
Fees: $2,800 for QM subscribers and $3,300 for non QM subscribers plus facilitator travel expenses. 

Build Your Online Course (BYOC)
Build Your Online Course includes an overview of the QM Rubric and provides a framework to design an online course plan. Participants explore eight key standards of the QM Rubric, focusing on learning objectives and overall course alignment.        
Fees: $1,200 for QM subscribers and $1,500 for non QM subscribers plus facilitator travel expenses.

Build Your Blended Course (BYBC)
Build Your Blended Course allows participants to explore the QM Rubric and will help provide a framework to build a blended course. Participants will use the QM Rubric to review key blended elements and create a course development plan.
Fees: $1,200 for QM subscribers and $1,500 for non QM subscribers plus facilitator travel expenses.

Improve Your Online Course (IYOC)
Improve Your Online Course explores the QM Rubric and provides a framework to improve the quality of online courses. Participants use the QM Rubric to review their online course and develop a course improvement plan.
Fees: $1,200 for QM subscribers and $1,500 for non QM subscribers plus facilitator travel expenses.

Standards Courses
Standards Courses are all available as onsite workshops.  They are 4 hours in length and can accommodate up to 20 participants.  There are no pre-requisite requirements and participant materials are provided by QM.
The Standard Course Fees:  $1,200 for QM subscribers and $1,500 for non QM subscribers plus facilitator travel expenses. 

Design That Welcomes Your Students (ST1)
Design That Welcomes Your Students focuses on providing online and blended course designers and instructors with an opportunity to explore design features that promote a framework for good learning.

Create Measurable Learning Objectives (ST2)
Create Measurable Learning Objectives reviews educational theories and best practices for constructing course- and module-level objectives. Participants will apply these concepts to developing and/or reviewing their own course objectives and will learn how objectives are aligned with course components.

Investigate Learning Objectives and Assessments (ST2/3)
Investigate Learning Objectives and Assessments reviews course- and module-level learning objectives while using alignment to ensure that assessments are varied and supportive of the learning objectives. Participants will apply these concepts to developing and/or reviewing their own course objectives and assessments.

Link Instructional Materials and Learner Engagement (ST4/5)
Link Instructional Materials and Learner Engagement reviews effective learning objectives and, through the concept of alignment, links instructional materials and learner engagement. Participants will apply these concepts in developing and/or reviewing their own instructional materials as they relate to supporting learner engagement.

Choose and Use Media Effectively (ST6)
Choose and Use Media Effectively introduces participants to a variety of media-based tools that can be used in online and hybrid courses.  The training pays special attention to aligning the tools with course goals and objectives.

Addressing Accessibility (ST8)
Addressing Accessibility reviews the history of ADA legislation and provides a broad overview about the present ADA requirements. Practical tips are provided in terms of the “low hanging fruit” – what you can do to make your courses more ADA-friendly.
