If your institution or program has made a commitment to implement the Quality Matters Rubric across your online/hybrid curriculum over an extended period of time, you are eligible to apply for Quality Matters Recognition of your implementation plan.
In order to qualify, the program or institution must submit for approval by the Quality Matters Academic Advisory Council, a multi-year written plan for QM implementation. There is no cost to the subscriber for this process.
- The plan should be a reflection of the specific goals and objectives of your institution or program.
- The plan must be approved by a senior academic officer of the institution: Dean, Provost or President.
- Submission must include the Proposal Form (attached below) signed by the senior academic officer and a copy of the internal document (if any) formalizing the plan. (Submit form to Dr. Ron Legon, Executive Director, at rlegon@qualitymatters.org).
- It is strongly recommended that the plan include at least some QM-managed or institutionally managed formal QM course reviews, but the plan may also include informal reviews, faculty self-assessments, faculty development workshops, other QM training, and other components that are unique to the institution or program.
- The plan must establish benchmarks (e.g., number of courses to be reviewed annually, numbers and types of training sessions planned, etc.) over a three-year period.
- The Proposal must also include the specific language the institution or program will use to publicize Quality Matters Recognition (see model language below). (Any subsequent modifications of this language will require prior approval by QM).
- Each year after approval of the plan, the institutional liaison must submit a brief written report to the QMAAC using the report form attached below and indicating accomplishment of the plan's objectives over the previous twelve months and identifying any changes or amendments to the overall plan. The QMAAC will determine whether the program or institution may continue to display the seal and statement (Submit report to Dr. Ron Legon, Executive Director, at rlegon@qualitymatters.org).
The new institution or program-level designation will include permission to display an approved QM seal and an accompanying statement on your Internet and print materials.
